Zotac was the only company to send us a stock-clocked version of the GTX 460 1GB , but Zotac used a custom cooler to add some flourish. While the stock cooler has a fan near the centre, blowing down onto a flower-like heatsink, Zotac opts for a more contemporary radial fan positioned at the end of the card. This pushes air over the cooling fins in the middle of the cooler and ultimately out of the case via the vented rear blanking plate.
The card requires two 6-pin PCI-E power connectors, which are located in the side of the board - while this isn’t ideal for cable management, it also avoids clashes with your hard disks. We’re mildly concerned that the cooler doesn’t include a heatsink to cool the RAM modules or power circuitry; these components instead rely on what little air doesn’t get blown through the cooling fins of the main heatsink. We didn’t experience any instability in our testing though.
The Zotac sports two dual-link DVI ports and a single full-size HDMI port. Also, unusually for an Nvidia card, it has a DisplayPort output too; this is something we’ve only seen on AMD cards up to this point. The Zotac also comes bundled with a game -
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - which adds a degree of value to the bundle. It's a decent inclusion given that Zotac hits the recommended £200 price for a bog-standard GTX 460 1GB.
